Treatment Programs and Services

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is located on a beautiful 52-acre campus in a valley of gently rolling farmland, minutes outside State College in Central Pennsylvania. The quiet, peaceful, rural setting provides a calming environment that is very conducive to recovery. Recently updated rooms, community spaces and recreational areas are designed for comfort and safety for a holistic approach to treatment. As an integrated behavioral health care delivery system, The Meadows provides comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults. Treatment is based on age-appropriate care.

The Meadows is licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and is also accredited by The Joint Commission.

Acute Inpatient Programs

Acute inpatient programs offer intensive care to children, adolescents and adults. It is designed to help patients stabilize from acute symptoms of a mental health disorder. Treatment takes place in a consistent and nurturing environment with 24-hour supervision by licensed nurses and physicians. The goal is to enhance patients’ coping skills so they may return home or to a lower level of care as quickly as possible.

Outpatient Programs

Universal Community Behavioral Health, Inc. (UCBH) is the outpatient system of The Meadows. Founded in 1999, the facility offers an array of programs based on community need throughout the surrounding counties.

UCBH Outpatient Clinics provide therapy and medication evaluation and management. The goal of the clinic is to assist individuals in improving their current level of functioning so they have the opportunity to be successful in family, educational, occupational and social settings.

Our Treatment Philosophy
